Mrs. Pearl Ida Merrell Driver, age 91, and a 67 year resident of Cartbody Road, in the Clem Community died Friday, July 3, 2009.

Mrs. Driver was born in Heard County, Georgia on January 12, 1918, the daughter of the late George Washington Merrell and Drucilla Clementine Smith Merrell.

She and her late husband, Woodrow Wilson Driver met at Banning Cotton Mill and was married in March of 1938. She was a farmer, homemaker, mother having raised seven children and was a member of Whooping Creek Primitive Baptist Church.

Surviving are her children and spouses; William O. Driver of Bremen, David F. and Louise Huckeba Driver of Carrollton, Katherine P. Driver of Carrollton, Sarah D. and Mike Grovenstein of Savannah, Joyce M. and Gary Heath of Martinez, Eleanor D. and Joey Huckeba of Carrollton, Rickey D. Driver of Carrollton; grandchildren and spouses; Christi Driver, Richard and Orlando Driver, Jason and Amanda Driver, Matthew and Kristen Huckeba, Melissa and Jonathan Stamps, Kirk Heath, Karla Heath; great grandchildren, Makayla Driver and Molly Driver. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Jean Treadwell Driver; son-in-law, Richard D. Smith and five brothers and sisters.

Funeral service will be conducted Monday, July 6 at 2 p.m. with Elder Benjamin Merrell and Elder Frank Andrews officiating. Music will be by the Scared Harp singers.

Pallbearers will be Richard Driver, Jason Driver, Matthew Huckeba, Kirk Heath, Jonathan Stamps, Mitchell Otwell, Greg Cooke, and Harold Merrell.

Interment will be in the Whooping Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Elder Larry Keaton officiating.
