She was born in Shiprock, New Mexico on April 5, 1926 to Karl Ervin Bond and Mae Walker Bond. She was raised in Kirtland, New Mexico and had a love for the Navajo people.
She attended BYU, where she met her eternal companion, Leo Arthur Dean, in the cougar band. They were married on September 12, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. Leo and Twila were married for fifty-seven years before he passed away January 26, 2004.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served as a teacher in Primary, Sunday School, and Relief Society. Her favorite calling was secretary of Primary and Sunday School.
She was a meticulous bookkeeper. She raised her family in Midvale, where she had her own beauty shop, Twila's, in her basement.
She loved to knit, tat, crochet, quilt, and garden. All of her children and grandchildren have benefitted from her generous gifts of money for education and especially her time.
She was adored by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spent countless hours playing with them. She had a spunky wit and always had a joke to tell making life fun whenever she was around. We will all miss the nightly phone visits, going to "Grandma Dean's" for Sunday visits, and holiday picnics in her backyard.
She is survived by her four children, Glen (Alison), Lynette (Ralph) Baer, Marlo (Marcee), Shauna (Van) Butler, seventeen grandchildren, and twenty-eight great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister Verlee Shurtliff and brother Dale Bond. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers Engman and Hal.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 21, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Garden Heights Ward Chapel, 2220 East Fisher Lane (2935 South), East Millcreek. A viewing will be held on Sunday, June 20, 2010 at the Church from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and prior to the services on Monday beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Interment: Memorial View Memorial Estates, 3115 East Bengal Boulevard (7800 South).
