Over the years, the parents wrote the names of their children in a book of German poetry. The book was dated 1848. The names were written first in German and then changed to English. Wilhelm Charles became William Charles.

Ten Noertemans were buried in St. Peter's Cemetery, "Old Part 1, Old Section 527" with no gravestone. According to cemetery records and an illustration, there were five adults and five children buried in the Noerteman plot. The five children were buried on top of the five adults.
