Georgia Ann Wilkerson Banks, age 91 of Fort Payne, passed away June 16, 2010. Mrs. Banks was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Fort Payne, where she was a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class and Golden Circle. She enjoyed assisting in the church nursery and with vacation Bible school and will be remembered especially for helping to create the churchs's beautiful Advent banners. Mrs. Banks also served as a Red Cross volunteer at DeKalb Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Banks is survived by her children, Thomas and Mary Neil Banks, of Ashville; Jack and Sandy Banks, of Moody; and Larry and Martha Banks, of Fort Payne; daughter-in-law, Betty Jo and husband Charles Ellis; grandchildren, Mark and Deborah Banks, Jimmy and Kathy Banks, Dwayne and Laurie Banks, Heather and Rex Harrison, Emily and Cannon Sommerville, Michael and Rene Banks, Glenn and Maria Little and Amy and Mark Marbut; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Matthew, Brooke, Lauren, Savannah, Ryan, Erika, Shelby, Anna, Henry, Jackson, Colby and Sarah Timmons; and great-great grandchild, Bryce. Mrs. Banks was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Tommy J. Banks; son, William Marion Banks; and great-grandson, Billy Tom Harrison. The funeral service will be today, June 18, at 11 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Pat McFadden and the Rev. Dwayne Banks officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church in Fort Payne.
