Funeral services for Mrs. Melinda Jane Greer, 89 years, widow of the late John T. Greer, who died at midnight Saturday night at the home of her sister, Mrs. David Roberts, 621 East Fourteenth Street, were held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon at the Gillespie funeral home with Rev. Ralph E. Hurd officiating.
Pallbearers were Clarence Anderson, Ara Ellis, Walter Ellis, J. B. Ellis, John Marr, and Clinton Gregory. Burial was in the family lot on Hopewell Cemetery near Newland. Mrs. Greer, known to her friends as Aunt Jane, was born near Hughesville on November 14, 1856, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Ramey Ellis, Pettis County pioneers, and for the past forty years she had lived with her sister, Mrs. Roberts. She was a member of the High Point Methodist Church near Hughesville.
Surviving besides her sister is one brother, James Ellis of Route 4, Sedalia.
Melinda J. Greer died at the age of 89 years and ten days of age from myocardial degeneration and senility. She was the widow of John Greer. She died at home at 621 E. 14th St. in Sedalia where she had lived her entire life. Mrs. David Roberts of Sedalia was the informant on her death record.
