Washington, IL - Mrs. Eva M. Holmes, 99, of Sterling, the mother of a Washington man, died Tuesday, June 8, 2010.
Eva Holmes was born on Aug. 10, 1910, in Hersman, the daughter of Oliver Commodore and Maggie Robinson (Innes) Ames. She married Howard M. Holmes Sr. on Oct. 31, 1926, in Kewanee. He preceded her in death on Sept. 21, 1977.
Mrs. Holmes was a member of the First Christian Church of Sterling for over 50 years.
She is survived by one son, Howard M. (Betty) Holmes of Washington; two daughters, Janie (Rex) McCormick of Kewanee and Juli (Wilmer) Houck of Sterling; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be at the Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling, with burial at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling immediately following.
