Marvin Giles Wray, 82, of 6177 Bikle Rd., Chambersburg, Penn., died on February 21, 2006 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born April 10, 1923 in Wirtz, Va., he was the son of the late James Oat and Claudia A. McNeil Wray. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys Marie Purdham Wray in 1969. He graduated from Rocky Mount High School, Rocky Mount, Va., in 1941. He joined the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve on November 4, 1942 and was discharged on November 13, 1945. He received the Purple Heart. He was employed as a construction superintendent with Marriott Hotels for 23 years. He was a member of First Christian Church, a member of the Landis-McCleaf Marine Corps League in Chambersburg, a lifetime member of the 2nd Marie Division Association and the 2nd Marine Division Invasion of Saipan (purple Heart), a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 42 and a member of the Local 340 United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America. He is survived by his second wife, Dorothy M. Wray of Chambersburg, Penn.; two daughters, Nancy E. Myers of Hagerstown and Patsy M. Langenstein of Sharpsburg; two sons, James Lester Wray of Waynesboro, Penn. and Terry Lee Wray of Maugansville, Md.; one brother, Paul C. Wray of Angola, Indiana; two stepsons, Glenn Meyer of Pennsylvania and Russell Meyer of New Jersey; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and five stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Queenell Campbell, Mattie Johnson, Virgie Jones and Hilda Hall. Funeral services will be held at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Md. at 1 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2006. Rev. Ronald K. Faith will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside by American Legion, Post 42. The family will receive friends at the Minnich Funeral Home on Thursday, February 23, 2006, from 7 to 9 p.m.
