He married Effie Davis on September 22, 1906. The groom was 36 (according to his marriage license, but according to his grave marker, he would have been 37), residing in Tyler County, WV and the bride was 33 years old and residing in Doddridge County, WV at the time of their marriage. The Rev. F. G. Radabaugh performed the ceremony in the United Brethren parsonage in Wilbur, WV.

Bud was a farmer. He and his wife, Effie, never had any children.

He was 59 years old and his cause of death is listed as paralysis that lasted for 75 hours. By that definition, it is assumed he most likely suffered a stroke. His father died exactly the same way.

His wife, Effie, was the informant.

Inscription

Bud's headstone is identical to his wife's, except his had a 3-link chain in the middle of the wreath. The 3-link chain represents the Divine Trinity; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. The flower at the top looks like it might be a poppy, which symbolizes eternal sleep.
