Didn't Hear Train, Killed
Man Believed to Be Otis Thornton - Skull Is Broken

Davenport, Wash., Sept. 26 - Suffering a fractured skull when struck by the locomotive of an eastbound central Washington freight train as he was walking along the track about a mile west of Reardan yesterday, a man believed to be Otis Thornton was instantly killed.

Prosecuting Attorney J. J. Johnson decided to hold no inquest. A slip from the Western Hospital association at Orofino, Idaho, showing that Thornton had paid $1 for medical fees September 12 was the only mark of identification. The man was carrying a knapsack and was dressed in laborer's clothing. He was about 60 and 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was walking against the wind with rain falling steadily when the accident occurred, and it is believed that he did not hear the approaching train.
