Obituary from the Springfield News-Leader- Gladys May Nettles, age 97, of Springfield, Mo. died at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2002 in Manor Care, Springfield. Gladys was born September 5, 1905 in Gladden, Mo., the daughter of Manuel and Nancy Smith Goacher. She was a longtime member of the East Grand Church of Christ, where she had a life-long relationship. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James, in 1966; three sisters; and a son-in-law, Ray Gilmore. She is survived by a daughter, Guelda J. Gilmore of Springfield; a nephew and his wife, Robert and Louise Huitt of Springfield; a niece, Patricia Barnes of California; and many friends. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2002 in Greenlawn Funeral Home South with Norman Nel officating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. No formal visitation is planned, friends may call after 4 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Gladys' husband James Parmer Nettles passed away in Independence before the family returned to Springfield and he is buried there.
