Joseph Guschke, 75, one of the most widely known truck farmers in the state, died at 6:55 Thursday evening at the residence on Second Street, west, after an illness of a short duration.
Born in Germany, Mr. Guschke came to America to make his home when a young man. He lived at Athens for a number of years, removing to Decatur 18 years ago, where he had resided continously since.
The body was removed to Priest's Funeral Home and prepared for burial, later being returned to the residence. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Priest.
Surviving are the widow; six sons, Lewis, of Huntsville; John of Moulton; Joe of Chicago; Henry of Pulaski; Charles of Decatur; and Theodore of Columbus, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Traxler, of Waukee, Ill and Mrs. Robert Yarbrough of Town Creek; one sister, Mrs. Werner of Louisville; and a brother of Hollywood, Ill. A number of grandchildren and other relatives also survive.
The following will act as pallbearers: Alfred Hagen, L.B. Hendon, D. Otte, John Babler, G.E. Hendon and T.R. Covey.

FUNERAL HELD FOR JOSEPH GUSCHKE -
Funeral services for Joseph Guschke, widely known truck farmer, were conducted this morning at nine o'clcok at St. Ann's Catholic Church, interment following in City Cemetery.
Mr. Guschke died at 6:55 o'clock Thursday evening at his residence on Second Street, west after a brief illness. He was 75 years of age.
