REVOLUTIONARY WAR PENSION APPLICATION of SAMUEL HOARD:
State of New York - Chautauga County Court - File No. R5069 - October 2, 1832 [abstract]
Samuel Hoard (age 74) came into Court and saith in the year 1776 he resided in the Town of Berlin (known then as Little Hoosick) in the State of New York and what is now the County of Rensselaer - in that year he entered the service as a MILITIA MAN in October in a general all arms under Captain James Denison in Colonel Van Rensselaerswyck's Regiment and went to Fort George in Lake George in said State of New York about one month - that from this time to the end of the war he was more or less in the service under diffrent officers as a Militiaman to the end of the ear - a year or more - during the period above mentioned he served under the said Capt. Denison two tours none of which they retreated before General Burgoine from Fort Edward to Stillwater in four different retreats - this was in the year 1777 - That he also served under several other Captains. He was at Saratoga. He has not record of his age except on a paper in his possession. /s/ Samuel (x) Hoard
