Adele Silver Van Winkle died Oct. 12, 1999 of natural causes.

Born September 14, 1914 in Salt Lake City to Elise Droubay Silver and Joseph Watson Silver. The eldest of five children, she grew up with the loving influence of her parents, Riverside School,

the Chapman Branch Library and the teachers of West High School. Adele graduate with a B.A. from the University of Utah and studied at Cooper Union School of Art, New York City. She taught in Granite and Salt Lake City school districts and enjoyed her years teaching at Uintah Elementary School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Van Winkle. Married Augst 8, 1936, Adele was a very supportive, loyal wife as Richard's successful baking and FBI career took them to live in many areas of the country. They were blessed to celebrate 56 years of marriage filled with love and happiness.

Survived by her son, Richard A. Van Winkle, Jr., wife Lesley, Mill Creek, WA; daughter, Mary Ellen, husband Charles S. Golvin, Los Angeles, CA; daughter, Wendy Anne, husband Louis E. Perkins, Salt Lake City. Adele was a loving and devoted grandmother to Lauren and Nicholas Van Winkle, Ezekel and Olivia Golvin and Stuart and Colin Perkins.

Adele was a volunteer worker with Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Granite District Psychological Services. Adele was a member of Authors Club, P.E.O. and Holladay United Church of Christ.

Memorial services will be held at Holladay United Church of Christ, 2631 East Murray-Holladay Road, at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 15, 1999. A private burial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Primary Children's Medical Center, or a charity of your choice.
