Elizabeth was daughter of Thomas Spears and Elizabeth Malissa Griffith. She married 1st to Jehu D. Shoun, son of Jehu Christian Burkett Shoun and Rachael M. Phillips on 22 December 1895. Their children: Garrett E. Hobert Shoun and Belva A.L. Shoun. She married 2nd to John Nathaniel Woodie, son of Jonathan P. Woodie and Martha Beshears on 28 March 1907.
