She was born in Joplin, Mo., to Reuben and Blanche Whitney Hardy, May 11, 1909. She had two brothers and three sisters. The family moved from Nebraska to Iowa. In Iowa she met the love of her life, Cecil Myrtue. They were married over 50 years.
In the 1970s, Lu and Cecil moved to Medford, Ore., where they celebrated their 50th anniversary. She belonged to the Rogue River Valley Regional Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary and the United Methodist Church while living in Medford
Lu came to Brookside Landing in Orofino, Idaho, in 2006, to be with her family: Bob and Alice Hardy and family, Barbara (Hardy) Rasmussen and Donna (Hardy) Dodson
She was preceded in death by husband, Cecil; all her brothers and sisters; and two nieces
Cremation has taken place. There will be a graveside service, laying her to rest beside her husband, Cecil, in Medford, Ore., at the Hillcrest Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2010.
