He farmed near Duck Lake, WA for several years. He was at the United Grain Growers elevator in Mohler, Lincoln County, WA when the manual lift failed to function properly, and dropped 65 feet with him. This was Sunday the 18th of October 1962. He was badly shaken, bruised and both heels were fractured and he was transported to the Spokane Deaconess Hospital. They thought he would recover but he died two days later, Tuesday night.
