Robert Bame

WILLIAMSTOWN -- Robert F. "Bob" Bame, 80, of 23196 Ohio 68, Williamstown, died at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at his residence.

He was born May 12, 1921, in Williamstown to John A. and Jennie B. (Inman) Bame. He married Gladys P. Barrett in December 1940, and she died in July 1970. He later married Dorothy L. Franks on July 31, 1971, and she survives.

Also surviving are a son, William W. "Bill" of Dunkirk; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruby Essinger, Arlington.

He was preceded in death by six brothers, Charles, Ralph, Walter, Leo, Carl and Frank; and two sisters, Stella Davis and Eva Mitchell.

Mr. Bame retired in 1979 from Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.

He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving as an airplane and engine mechanic in the Aleutian Islands.

He was a member of Bethel Church of Christ, Findlay Moose Lodge 698, Forest VFW Post 1182 and Cooper Old Timers Club.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Crates Funeral Home, Arlington, the Rev. David A. Underwood officiating. Burial will be in Williamstown Cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 1182.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Hardin Hospice Care or the church.
