Jesse Baker burial held in Pilgrim
Funeral services were held today, Monday, April 3, at 2 p.m. from the Seydler-Hill Funeral Chapel for Jesse (Sonny) Baker, who died in Memorial Hospital at 9:05 p.m. April 1. The Rev. George Schultz officiated at the service with burial following in the Pilgrim Cemetery.
Serving at pallbearers were John David Hall, Anton Matias, Timothy Sommerlatte, Ronald Baker, Emmet Baker, Jr., and John Jurek, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Henry Sofka, Buford Baker, Herman Cummings, Lanom Dove, Gene Low and Aubrey Robinson. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
Mr. Baker was born in DeWitt County on April 3, 1930. His parents were Harvey and Liddie Belle Stockton Baker, natives respectively of Pilgrim and Thorndale. A carpenter, he was married on April 8, 1952, to Della Jurek, and lived on Route 3. He was member of the Baptist Church, and the Gonzales VFW, having served in Korea.
Survivors are his wife; his mother, Mrs. Liddie Belle Meadows of Luling; three daughters, Mrs. Charles (Jo Ann) McIntosh, Mrs. James (Alice) Rickman, Mrs. Bruce (Mary ) Nicoletti, all of Gonzales; two sons, James of Lockhart and Donald Baker of Leesville; and two sisters, Mrs. Barney (Olea) Martin of Edna and Mrs. Jean Appling of Luling; Also 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, and two sons.
