SIMON BARKER DIES AT 90 YEARS OF AGE

Simon Barker, a pioneer of Utah died yesterday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Walker Barlow, 708 Twelfth wstreet, of general debility. The decedent was the grandfather of Municipal Judge George S. Barker. He was born in England, October 1, 1826, the son of George and Sarah Barker, and was one of the first English converts to Mormonism.
Emigrating to America in 1849, he crossed the plains with an ox team and located in Ogden. Shortly afterward, he was married to Miss Jemina Newey and this city was made their permanent residence. At the time of his death he was a member of the high priests' quorum of the Ogden stake and of the Indian War Veterans' association. Two daughters, Mrs. Barlow and Mrs. Emmeline James; a son Fred E. Barker; 26 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren survive.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m., in the Seventh ward chapel and interment will be in the city cemetery. The body may be viewed at the home of Mrs. Barlow tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
