Alvin Rudolph Burgeson was the tenth child of August Burgeson and Emma Johnson born on 12 Oct 1896 in Elgin, Illinois.

At the age of 20, he married Ida Eliza Purkey on 02 Oct 1917 in Illinois. They had two children together.

Alvin passed away on 05 Apr 1974 in Port Charlotte, Florida. He was 77 years old.

Alvin R. Burgeson, 77, of 330 N. E. Catherine Ave., Port Charlotte, Fla., formerly of Elgin, died Friday in St. Joseph Hospital, Port Charlotte.

Born in Elgin, he moved to Florida 13 years ago, where he retired as a sergeant from the Elgin Police Department. He was a member of the Veterans of W.W.I, Barracks 714, Port Charlotte.

Surviving are the widow, Ida E.; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Elaine) Russell of Port Charlotte, and Mrs. Charles (Ellen) Jacobs of Palatine; one brother, Raymond of Chicago; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Knott of Detroit, Mich.; and one grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday in the Port Charlotte Kays Funeral Home. The Rev. Coleman T. Sparrow of the First Christian Church will officaite.
