Albert Oscar Widness, 77, passed away July 29, 1993 at the Good Samaritan Center in Battle Lake, MN

He was born on December 24, 1915 in Everts Township, Otter Tail County, MN. He is the son of Alfred and Jennie (Borgen) Widness. He grew up in the Battle Lake area.

He was registered with Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) near Hinckley, MN, now the site of the St Croix State Park. Following his time with the CCC he served in the Army during WWII from June 1942 to Nov 1945.

He married Gladys Bergrud on April 1, 1946 at Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.

He was employed by Red River Milling Company and Rendering Plant of Fergus Falls until 1949. They then moved to Richville, MN. He was then employed with Burlington Northern Railroad for 25 years.

Albert had been at the care center for eight years.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys; two daughters, Hazel (Gale) Hamner of Moorhead, MN and Bernice (Marlin) Kubitz of Monticello, MN; one son Arvin (Sheila) Widness of Richville, MN; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister Mildred Haroldson of Ashby, MN and two brothers, Orris Widness of Fergus Falls, MN and Kenneth Widness of Clitherall, MN.
