STAYROOK - Richard Dwayne "Dick," 77, Somerset, died Sept. 26, 2005, at Somerset Hospital. Born Feb. 17, 1928, in Jenner Township, Somerset County, the son of Francis and Margaret (Blough) Stayrook. Preceded in death by parents, brothers and sisters. Survived by wife of 56 years, the former Alice Shaffer; and these children, Sandra Smith, and special friend, Ed Maier; Kathy King; Peggy Summers; Cindy Stayrook; Nancy Bowman; Richard A.; David; Randy; and Terry Stayrook; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and last surviving sister, Edna Gilland, Linesville, Pa. He was a Navy World War II veteran, having served in Saipan from 1946-1948. He was a heavy equipment operator for Scurfield Coal Co. and Croner and Ohler. He was a longtime resident of Berlin. Family receiving friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at George E. Mason Funeral Home Inc., Davidsville, where services will be held at 10 a.m.
Thursday. Interment, Blough Mennonite Cemetery.
