Minna was a midwife and helped many a baby into the world. She was also a faith doctor who could heal people afflicted with a skin rash -- but only if the people believed. She and the afflicted person would go outside when the moon shined bright. She would hold up her hand so it cast a shadow over the diseased skin and would mumble some words. In a few days the place would be healed. It is said a lady from Galveston came all the way to see Minna But she did not believe and was not healed.

Obituary:

On the 25th of April in the morning at 6:30 o'clock died Mrs. Wilhelmine Langehennig born Zammet at the age of 69 years and seven months after a long illness of liver cancer. The funeral was the next day and was attended by many people at the family cemetery in Cherry Mountain. Pastor Schmidt presided.

The deceased was born on the 24th of September 1840 in Oberamt Hagenburg in Herzog, Nassau. In the year 1846 she and her relatives came to the Germany Colony in Texas. She had to live through hard times--hunger and sickness. Another time was during the Civil War. She had three children and her husband was gone for three years.

She had nine children, two of whom died. The living children are four sons, Henry, Wilhelm, Louis and August, three daughters, Lena, Mrs. Henry Alberthal, Bertha, Mrs. Emil Thiele and Alma, Mrs. John Durst. Also a sister, Mrs. Gottlieb Burrer, 47 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren as well as many relatives and friends.

May this old, pioneer lady have a sweet rest after a long suffering and to the grieving relatives our condolence.
