Funeral Services Sunday For Oliver H. Anderson:
Oliver H. Anderson, 68, a former resident of this section of Tennessee died Wednesday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. P. Edwards, Durham, NC, following an extended illness.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at three o'clock at the Cookeville Church of Christ, with A. S. Landiss officiating. Burial was in the Cookeville Cemetery.
The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James T. Anderson, he was born in Gainesboro. A graduate of Cumberland university, at Lebanon, he was engaged in the banking business at Monterey and in Sparta for several years. He served as president of the Oneida and Western Railraod and as superintendent of the Tennessee Stave and Lumber Company from about 1921 to 1927.
He then moved to Arizona, where he was engaged in copper mining for a number of years, later moving to Nashville, where he resided for several years. He had made his home with Mrs. Edwards in Dunham for about the past three months. Since his retirement some six years ago he had resided in Florida and also had spent much time with Cookeville relatives.
Mr. Anderson was a member of the Church of Christ.
Surviving in addition to Mrs. Edwards, are his widow, Mrs. Birdie Avant Anderson, two other daughters, Mrs. W. M. Lee, of Akron, OH and Mrs. Warrne T. White, of Norfolk, VA; a son, O. H. Anderson, Jr., serving with the U. S. Army in the Pacific area; two brothers, Joel Anderson of Knoxville, and James Anderson, of Cookeville; a sister, Miss Mae Drake, also of Cookeville, several grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.
