My Daddy worked on Great-Grandpa Amos Long's land. In the early 1920's that land was sold to KG&E to build the Neosho Plant.

Chester Howard Brooks was born in the McCune Kansas area, 1 of 13 children. He was introduced to hard work on the farm at a tender age. After graduating from high school he attended Parson's Business College

He begin work for KG&E in 1928, retiring from that company when he was 65. He was plant clerk at the Neosho plant until 1938 when he transferred to the then new Ripley plant in Wichita, Kansas. In 1939 Chester married Jewell Holman.

In addition to his work at the Ripley plant, he found time to be active in worthwhile activities. He was a member of the board of the Central Christian Church and when Riverside Christian Church. He enjoyed his garden.

He loved his family and his family loved him. He was a good, kind man.
