Raymond M. "Red" Hall was born to Jasper Hall and Elizabeth Pinneo Hall on September 13, 1905, at Grafton, and passed away March 25, 1994, at his home in Fairmont, at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 12 days. He was one of eight children in the family.

As a small child, Raymond moved with his family to Minnesota and lived there until he was 8 years old. With the passing of his father, they moved back to Fairmont where he attended Fairmont Public School.

He was a long-time member of the United Methodist church, now the Fairmont Community Church. He was a member of the Fairmont Fire Department for many years and served on the Fairmont City Council. He took great pride in his city. He was an outstanding member of the IOOF Hisperian Lodge No. 42, serving with his fellow borhters.

On June 14, 1937, he was united in marriage to Helen Schumacher of Grafton, at Belleville, Ks. To this union, were born six children. Helen passed away August 1, 1964.

Raymont was united in marriage to Audrey Radke on July 31, 1973. Two stepsons joined the family.

Raymond or "Red" as he was known to many of his friends, lived in the Fairmont community until the time of his death. Red operated the Hall's Standard Service on the same corner of Fairmont for 26 years. His station became sort of a hangout for old timers and others who liked to drop in for a visit. Many stories were shared by all who stopped by.

After he sold his Standard Station in 1974, he pumped gas under the Texaco emblem at Jacobsen Fairmont Oil Co., the old Mumby station. He wanted to keep serving the public he loved since he started in 1948, in the gas station business.

He retired from station work in 1986. After his retirement, he could be found working around his home. He took great pride in keeping up his home and yard. Many hours were spent on his John Deere riding mower. He was always giving advice to anyone who was helping him mow.

Red also had a great love of nature. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger days. Later he enjoyed watching the squirrels and birds enjoy the feeders that he always kept full.

Red was an avid sports fan. He had enjoyed watching his children play all types of sports. He later enjoyed watching and hearing about his grandchildren playing ball. He could always be found watching sports on television or listening to a game on the radio.

Red loved coffee and cookies, especially oatmeal cookies, shared with friends and relatives whether it was at home or the coffee shop. Many good stories and memories were always shared. They talked over many local problems that would arise.

Red was proud of the accomplishments of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed the visits and phone calls from them. Red will be missed by all of his relatives and friends.

Raymond was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen; sisters, Alice Lang, Leah Gibbons and Hilda Lutz.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey of Fairmont; two sons, Edward of Fairbury and Richard and wfie, Nancy of Wymore; two step-sons, Albert Radke and wife, Sherri of Fairmont and Richard Radke of Federal Way, Wa.; four daughters, Barbara (Richard) Smith of Fairmont, Patricia (Larry) Dow of Overland Park, Ks., Kathryn (Clarence) Nun Jr. of Geneva and Mary Hall of Omaha; one brother, Jasper Emmett Hall of Cottonwood, Ca.; three sisters, Anna McMahon of Fairmont, Mildred Moul of Madrid and Agnes Stoker of Eugene, Ore.; 18 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
