Alva M. Milam: War Veteran

Alva M. Milam who served in the armed forces in both World War I and World War II, died at 3:40 a.m. today at Kennedy Veterans Hospital where he was admitted Oct. 6. Mr. Milam had been ill for some time and had been a patient in the hospital before. He was 54.
He lived at Horn Lake, Miss., and was a painter by trade. He was born in New Albany, Miss., and lived in Florida about 10 years before last April when he returned to Horn Lake.
He served overseas with the Army in World War I and was in the Navy during World War II. He was Baptist. He had been a member of the American Legion and VFW.
He leaves four sisters, Mrs. Susie Sandidge and Mrs. B. B. Miller of Horn Lake, Mrs. Ann Awalt, Tampa, Fla., and Mrs. Viola Staggs, Natchez, Miss., and his brother, S. W. Milam, Whitehaven.
Services at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Mt. Zion Church near Independence, Miss. Burial in the Church Cemetery. National Funeral Home in charge.
