Vilate Beesley Hooker, 89, of 1421 2nd Ave. N., a retired secretary, died of natural causes Thursday at Peace Hospice.
Survivors include her sister, and a brother-in-law, along with many nieces and nephews in the Basta, Beesley and Hooker families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Hooker; her parents, two sisters and three brothers.
Vilate was born May 2, 1918, in Rexburg, Idaho. She graduated from Madison High School in 1936. Vilate attended Ricks College in Rexburg and Merritt Business College in Oakland, Calif. She married Howard Hooker in Rexburg on Jan. 26, 1946. He died in 2006.
During the war, she worked for the civil service in Fort Douglas, Utah, where she met her hus-band. After the war, Vilate worked at the Utah Capitol in Salt Lake City for two years. She then worked for the Department of Defense at Malmstrom Air Force Base for 27 years, retiring in June 1974.
Vilate was a member of the Women of the Moose and the Great Falls Flower Growers Club. She and Howard traveled all over the world to places such as Europe, Africa, Venezuela and most of the United States.
