Ted spent his boyhood on a farm at St. Edward, Ne. He was confirmed as a youth in the Salem Lutheran Church at St. Edward. He moved to Oakland, Ne. in 1926. He married Jennie Opal Dennis at Council Bluffs, Ia., 21 August 1929. He moved his family to a farm west of Tekamah in 1938. He transferred his church membership to the Presbyterian Church in Tekamah. He was past Nobel Grand of Orange Lodge No. 23, which he joined in 1939. He was a pioneer of conservation work and was active in soil conservation organizations. In 1961 he became on of the directors that helped organize the Elkhorn Watershed District and served on that board until 1976.
