EAST JORDAN - Gordon G. Dawson, 94, a farmer and logger in the Antrim County Area, died Friday at Charlevoix Area Hospital. He had worked for the Foster Boat Company in the Charlevoix area and for a short time in Detroit for the Packard Motor Company. He retired in 1978. He had been a resident of the Central Lake area most of his life and in East Jordan for the past two years. He was born Nov. 7, 1893, in Central Lake Township to George and Mary Jane (Petrie) Dawson. On Nov. 29, 1916, in Bellaire he married Zella Wilson, who survives. Also surviving are one son Harmon of Magdelena, N.M.; two daughters Mrs. Donald (Carolyn) Brown of Central Lake and Mrs. Ronald (Laurene) Kooyes of East Jordan; fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sisters Effie Morse, Mabel Easton, Blanche Blakely, Hattie Russell, two grandchildren Dennis Dawson, Anna Telgenhof and one great-grandson Brandon Rogers. Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Home. Rev. Estel Clark will officiate. Burial will the in Lakeview Cemetery in Torch Lake Township. Friends may call the funeral home today 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the Charlevoix Area Hospital.
