OBITUARY
FORT WORTH -- Reuben Delton Oates, 79, foreman for Central Freight Lines who retired after 43 years, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at a local hospital. Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Thursday in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton. Mr. Oates served on the USS Lansing in the Coast Guard during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Frankie Oates; brothers, John Bart Oates Jr. and Charles William Oates; and sisters, Juanita Taylor and Nadine Ruth. Survivors: Son, Jerry Oates of Madison, Conn.; daughter, Paula Oates of Fort Worth; sisters, Wendy Peele of Hamilton and Judy Hammitt of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Erin Oates, and Byron Oates; and numerous other relatives.
