CENTRALIA- Raymond Earl Adams, 89, of Centralia, KS, formerly of Holton and Corning, passed away Friday, June 11, 2010 at the Onaga Hospital. He was born September 21, 1920 in Onaga, KS the son of Henry Francis and Minnie Myrtle Fisher Adams. Raymond attended the Liberty District School southwest of Centralia, KS and lived in Corning for 30 years. He lived in Holton for several years before moving to Centralia in 2004. He had worked for Jackson Farmers COOP in Holton for 20 years. Raymond served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a medic in infantry in Italy and North Africa. He was a member of the Circleville United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #44 in Holton and was past commander of Goff American Legion Post #316. He was married to Opal Irene Bell on September 13, 1946 in Hiawatha, KS. She survives. Other survivors include his son, Roger Adams (Judy) of Corning, KS; his sisters, Mary Lindeen and Lydia Potter of Seneca, KS and Donice Barrett of Sabetha, KS; 3 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Eugene Adams in 1947, his daughter, Bonnie Jean Adams in 1968, his grandson, Jason Adams in 2009, his sisters, Catherine McLaughlin and Lela Elder and brothers, Charlie, William "Bud" and Ken Adams. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 14, 2010 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery at Goff, KS.
