Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery. Gene died Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at Nacogdoches Medical Center Hospital. He was born July 11, 1929, in Port Arthur, Texas, the first child of John Thomas Sparks and Bertie Polk Sparks. His parents returned to Nacogdoches County early in his life.
