Dorothy V. Godfrey, 85, died June 10, 2010, at the York Hospital. She was the wife of Robert C. Godfrey and the late Robert H. Copenheaver.

Mrs. Godfrey was a graduate of William Penn High School Class of 1943. She was a homemaker and a wonderful cook. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren immensely. She was very active with the West York VFW Auxiliary, including being a past president and District #21 past president. She was also a member of Shiloh American Legion Auxiliary.

Born in Luray, Va., on April 24, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Wade E. and D. Katherine (Finchum) Bates.

In addition to her husband, she leaves four sons, Blaine R. Copenheaver and his wife, Connie of Dover, Larry R. Copenheaver and his wife, Carolyn of York, Michael D. Copenheaver and his wife, June of Philadelphia, and Robert C. Godfrey, Jr. of York; two daughters, Carole L. Mummert and Kathy E. Newcomer, both of York; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Martha Flannigan and Gloria Longo; and a brother, Earl Bates. Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey A. Godfrey; a grandson, Michael D. Copenheaver, Jr.; and two sisters, Ella Enterline and Mary Hoff.

Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
