Orville was my Grandfather

He was the son of Albert Bond and Nannie Melinda Neel (Neal).

He was married to Leona May Todd on 27 Mar 1928 in Taloga, Dewey, OK.

Their children together were:
Phyllis Louise (1930-2019)
Violet Joann (1935-1990),
Private
Orville Lester "Larry" (1940-2007)

Orville liked music and was a geat dancer, he was quite handsome. He was also a hard worker and an outstanding carpenter. He and his father, Albert Bond, built the cabinets in his home as well as those in the home of his parents and his sister and her husband, Violet and Horace Mann. He designed and made a lighted cross that hung for about forty years in the Crowley Community Baptist Church. His greatest passion was raising and training greyhounds at which he excelled. He was admired and respected by greyhound breeders and owners from all over America and Cuba and was featured in the National Coursing News, the periodical of the greyhound racing world. Orville always saw to it that his dogs were trained with kindness and discipline and were healthy. He even cooked their food for them rather than relying on commerical dog food. When a dog got too old to race, he or she just sort of became a pet of Orville's and lived out their lives on his farm. Ond of his hobbies was to hunt birds, squirrels, and rabbits. He often had bird dogs in addition to his greyhounds. Orville took pride in his appearance and dressed appropriately for the occasion and always wore a hat. Of utmost importance, Orville was a loving, kind, loyal, honest, and generous person. In addition, he was very intelligent and always tried to do what was right for all concerned.Son of Albert & Nannie Melinda (Neal)Bond
