Carter had been an area resident for 38 years. She worked for Bear Brand Hosiery, Campbell Soup and retired from Franklin Electric. She was a long-time member of First Assembly of God Church in Siloam Springs. She married Roy Carter on Feb. 13, 1943.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Roy Carter of the home; four sons, Leroy Carter and wife Linda of Summers, Melvin Carter, Robert Carter and wife Ruby of Watts, Okla., and Sheldon Carter and wife Connie of Summers; three daughters, Brenda Douthit and husband Russ of Oklahoma City, Okla., Patricia Houston and husband Devin of Siloam Springs, Ark., Janet Roberts and husband Brad of Siloam Springs; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Gladean Harger of Springfield, Ore.
Funeral services were Sept. 7 at Wasson Memorial Chapel in Siloam Springs with Pastor Howie Moss and Pastor Gary Wheat officiating. Burial followed in Old Union Cemetery near Summers. Memorial contributions may be made to First Assembly of God Church, Siloam Springs, or the Siloam Springs Public Library. Arrangements were under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.
