Harry King Called to Final Rest
Final Rites for Harry Elmer King were held Sunday Feb. 25 at Neiser Funeral home, Bowen Ill.
The Rev. Floyd Blackard was in charge of the services with comforting music by Mrs. Vivian McMahan and Mrs, Doris Worrell. The presence of loved ones was a source of comfort to the family. Interment was in Chili Cemetery, Bowen Illinois with Marvin Mixer, Floyd Bruns, Charles Hufendick Jr., Keith Bruns, Kent Flesner, and David Bruns, serving as casket bearers.
Harry Elmer King was born on June 27, 1889 at Palmer Kansas, the son of Clement and Emma Trout King. He was united in marriage to Miss Alice G Dickerson on July 21, 1921 at Clay Center Kansas. For ten years they owned and operated a grocery store in Palmer Kan., they emigrated to Bowen in which community they had since resided. Mr. King was a member of the United Methodist Church of Bowen and a member of the Bowen Post 1087 American Legion, having been a veteran of WW I US Cavalry. He was also a member of the Hancock CO Barracks WW I Vets. Mr. King had been in failing health for the past year, and peaceful rest came Thursday evening, Feb. 20 at 5:45 pm at the Hancock County Nursing Home. He was 83 years of age. Mr. King is survived by the devoted companion, Alice, a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. His parents, two brothers and one sister await the eternal reunion. He will indeed be missed by his many loved ones and friends.
