Rev. Austin was the last to be buried in the grave plot. He was buried in 1854. The cover on their plot is a solid, single piece of stone. It must have been a real job getting it there and installed in those days.

I found out how they got the stone slab to the cemetery. In the 1850s, not long after Linus was buried, the Wringling Brothers Circus came to Akron. The Austin family hired members of the circus and used two of their elephants to pull the wagon carrying this massive stone slab to the cemetery. Once there, the elephants were used to move the slab around and put it in place. What a day that must have been.
