Obituary of Isaac Heaton
Mr. Isaac Heaton, father of Mrs. John Gallagher, of this city, died at his home in Rossville, Ill., on Tuesday last, aged over 92 years. Mrs. Gallagher had been called to his bedside before his death.

Isaac moved to West Bedford, Coshocton County, Ohio in 1817. He operated a Tannery there until 1871.In that year Isaac moved, with his second wife, Mary, to Grant Twp., Vermillion Co., Illinois. They settled near the Antioch Church of Christ. In 1840 Isaac was initiated into the order of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons. Isaac was a very athletic person, even up into his mis-60's. At the time of his death he was the oldest resident of Vermillion County.

"1-6-011 Isaac Heaton son of Isaac (1-6-002).

Isaac was born near Jefferson, Penn on 4-4-1793. He moved west to New Bedford, Ohio in 1817 where he married Elizabeth Barrett in 1819. She was born in County Down, Ireland and came to America in 1804. She was the daughter of Hugh Barrett and Nancy Matchett. In 1820, Isaac started a tannery business in New Bedford which he operated until 1871. Elizabeth had died on 9-15-1848 and is buried in the West Bedford Cemetery. Isaac married (2) Martha Whitesel or Whitesley on 9-24-1850. She died in 1876. Isaac then moved to Rossville Illinois. Isaac was said to be an exceptional athlete. He died from cancer on 8-19-1884 and is buried in the Rossville Cemetery. He was the oldest man in the County at the time of his death."
