Winifred "Winnie" C. Winn, 90, Edgerton, WI, passed away June 7, 2010, at her home with her family by her side. She was born on December 13, 1919, in Edgar, WI, daughter of the late Anton and Balbina (Wirkus) Hornung. Winnie graduated from Edgar High School in 1937, and later St. Mary's School of Nursing, Wausau, WI, in 1940. She completed her post graduate work in St. Louis, MO. Winnie married James John Winn on May 8, 1943, at Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Belmont, MA. Over the years, Winnie worked at St. Savior Hospital in Portage, WI, St. John's Hospital in Jacksonville, FL, Beverly Hospital in Montebello, CA, Milwaukee County Hospital as a night supervisor, and then at Edgerton Hospital, Edgerton, WI. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and quilting. She designed hundreds of costumes, May baskets, and award-winning porch decorations. Winnie was an amazing mother, teaching her children through example; how to be kind, and responsible adults. Her loving care of her youngest son, Bobby, taught all who knew her how important it is to respect and value all God's children. She belonged to the St. Rose Society, St Joseph Catholic Church, the Edgerton Art Association, and the Rock County Dental Auxiliary. She is survived by her children: Mary Ann (Gil) Jelinek of Monroe, WI, Alice Pallett of Janesville, WI, Patricia (Doug) Risch of Dodgeville, WI, Peggy (William) Maves of Edgerton, WI, James (Mary) Winn of Monticello, WI, Teresa (Robert) Bell of Wayzata, MN, Anthony Tony (Sara) Winn of On Alaska, WI, Barbara (Dick) Cease Winn of Edgerton, WI, and Patrick Joe (Tami) Winn of Orlando, FL; 42 grandchildren: 41 great-grandchildren: and 56 nieces & nephews.
