Services were Thursday, Sept. 10, at 1 p.m. at Rose Road Church of God with the Revs. Nellon Smith, Charles McDowell and Hoyt Harris officiating. Burial followed at Rice Cemetery, in Arab.
Survivors include his daughters, Lula B. Blackmon, Lillie Mae Oliver, Ruby Hughes, Rosie Bales, Barbara Ann Holmes and Betty Jean (Tim) Floyd, all of Albertville, Bonnie Holland, of Whiton, and Sara (Richard) Breeden, of Horton; sons, Johnny (Betty) Bales, of Whiton, and Micky (Jennie) Bales, of Atlanta, Ga.; brothers, Jim (Mary) Bales, of Nashville, Tenn., and Howard Bales, of Atlanta; sisters,, Novella Pickett and Essie Ivey, both of Arab; 15 grandchildren, one step-grandson, 22 great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild, and four great-great-grandchildren.
