Deceased was born in Clark County, Georgia, July 3d, 1806; his parents emigrated to Tennessee, Rutherford County three years after, he embraced the Gospel in May, 1841: emigrated to Nauvoo in 1841., and suffered with the Saints in their persecutions: was called to be one of Brother Joseph Smith's police in 1843, and was ordained a seventy about the same time; emigrated to Council Bluffs, and furnished a son for the Battalion; afterward came with Brother Brigham Young's camp to the valleys in 1848, and was called on a mission to Provo: afterward moved to Spanish Fork, where he presided as Bishop; was called on a mission to Great Britain, which he honored for two years; was called on the Southern mission in 1862, and has since resided in New Harmony. He lived and died a Latter-day Saint, and was universally respected, and we trust will come forth in the first resurrection.
