Elijah was the son of Elijah and Mabel Fox Andrews, and his grandparents were Elisha and Jerusha Keeney Andrews. He married his second cousin Mary (Polly) Keeney probably in New York and farmed for many years in Vermont. They moved to Ohio by 1822 where their son Simon Andrews was born. He farmed in Canaan Township, next to his brother-in-law Simon Keeney III until his death.
