Obituary
Theresa Catherine Chapman, 79, of Pine Ridge Care Center, Elizabethton, formerly of 311 Colorado Street, Johnson City, died Friday, June 23, 2000, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital, of respiratory failure. Mrs. Chapman was a native of St. Paul, Minn., and had lived in Johnson City most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Bielen and was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Chapman, in 1973, and by two brothers and three sisters. Mrs. Chapman was an Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II, having attained the rank of Sergeant. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Johnson City, and was very active in the Parish. She was also an active co-worker of the Missionaries of Charity and did much to serve the poor. Survivors include two daughters, Sr. M. Sharon Chapman, with the Missionaries of Charity, San Francisco, Calif., and Meredith Dugger, Johnson City; two sons, Jody B. Chapman, Johnson City, and Anthony F. Chapman, Jonesborough; two granddaughters, Cheryl Willen, Johnson City, and Erin Decker, Jonesborough; three grandsons, Christopher Willen, Johnson City, Anthony D. Chapman and Brian Peters, both of Jonesborough; and a great-grandson, Dylan Peters, Jonesborough. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Morris-Baker Funeral Home, 2001 Oakland Avenue, Johnson City, is in charge of arrangements.

CHAPMAN -- Mass of the Resurrection for Theresa Catherine Chapman, 79, of Pine Ridge Care Center, Elizabethton, formerly of 311 Colorado Street, Johnson City, who died Friday, June 23, 2000, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, June 26, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Johnson City. Father Steve Smith will be the celebrant. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in the Mount Rose Cemetery, Glade Spring, Va., where those attending will assemble for this service. Pallbearers will be Brian Peters, Anthony D. Chapman, Jeff Hatley, Vernon Hill, Carl Bailey and Tommy Farmer. For those who prefer, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Missionaries of Charity, 335 E. 145th Street, Bronx, N.Y. 10451. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, concluding with the Rosary Service. Morris-Baker Funeral Home, 2001 Oakland Avenue, Johnson City,, is in charge of arrangements.
