John Joseph Garity was born on Garity's hill near the site of Prospect Park in 1858 and was one of the organizers of the Roman Catholic Church of the Holy Rosary, he died the 9th of Sep.,1910, from heart trouble. He was a wood carver in long employ of White Potter & Page. He is suvived by his widow Mary A. Kane, a daughter Frances Mary and four sons Charles Henry, Thomas Malcolm, John Joseph and William Edward.
