The funeral for Harold Truman Acker Sr., 86, of Route 1, Mount Crawford, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home.

The Rev. Robert Bowman will conduct the service. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Acker died May 3, 1991, at Camelot Hall Nursing Home.

He was born Oct. 20, 1904, in Rockingham County and was a son of the late William W. and Flossie Hassler Acker. He spent his early life in Rockingham County and graduated from Dayton High School and attended Bridgewater College for one year. He lived most of his life in Rockingham and Augusta counties.

Mr. Acker owned a dairy farm and poultry processing plant near Grottoes for a number of years. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren, a former member of the Grottoes Fire Department, Port Republic Ruritan Club and Port Republic 4-H Club. He was named outstanding 4-H leader in Rockingham County.

On Dec. 30, 1925, he married the former Elizabeth Myers, who died Sept. 23, 1990.

Surviving are six children; a sister, Kathleen; 24 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 7:30-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
