Funeral for Joseph Knox Alexander, 71 an Oregon resident 52 years, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Skyline Memorial Chapel, with interment in Skyline Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Alexander of 8555 N. Calhoun St., died Monday in a local hospital. He was born October 18, 1900, in Seneca, South Carolina and lived in Portland since 1951. He formerly lived in Hermiston, Pendleton and Ontario.

Mr. Alexander retired in 1965 as wildlife habitat manager in Western Oregon for the Oregon Game Commission, for which he was employed for 28 years.

He was a past master of Waverly Masonic Lodge no. 174, a member of Order of Eastern Star, and past master of Sauvie Island Grange and Multnomah County Pomona.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie; one daughter, Mrs. Donald Anicker of Burns; four sons, Richard of Portland, Robert of New Fane, New York, Paul of Auburn, Washington, and Jerald of East Granby, Connecticut; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family suggests remembrances be contributions to the American Cancer Society.
