David Messerschmidt

He was born Feb. 24, 1926, in Sleepy Eye, to Paul and Anna (Stage) Messerschmidt. At an early age he joined the Army and served in World War II. Following discharge, he moved to Wendell and spent most of his life around that area.

He is survived by his children: Richard (Estefania) of Apple Valley, Teresa (Tim) Stein of Aberdeen, S.D., Kevin of Wendell, Todd (Jo) of Elbow Lake, Tracee of Hawley and Tricia (Steve) LaCoursiere of Fergus Falls; brother, Irlin of California; sisters: Veronica Connel of Lake City, Geraldine Grahs and Luella Jensen both of Eau Claire, Wis., and Beverly Hale of New Ulm; ten grandchildren: Jessica (Brandon) Piatt of Aberdeen, S.D., Troy and Monica Paetow of Aberdeen, S.D., Tessa Messerschmidt of Fergus Falls, Ashley and Cole Messerschmidt of Glen Ullin, N.D., Callista, Shania and Gage LaCoursiere of Fergus Falls and Kasey Krogen of Hawley; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death were his parents and two brothers, Wesley and Irvin.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the funeral home

Service: 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel
