She was the daughter of Henry McNeal (died before 1849) and Rachel Weenes McNeal Loockerman. On December 2, 1873 as Mary C. MacNeal, she married Hiram W. Barrett in the District of Columbia.
Mary C. Barrett was born in Baltimore in 1840 and moved to the District of Columbia in 1870. In 1873, she married Hiram W. Barrett. She was a soloist for many years at Holy Trinity Church. She died at the age of 87 on Friday, June 17, 1927 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Fuchs at 2526 Wisconsin Avenue after an accident that occurred several weeks ago. Survivors included her daughter and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the residence with Rev. James H.W. Blake and Rev. W.P. officiating. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
