THE TENNESSEAN, for Tuesday, December 16, 1975, page 34, recorded:

MANCHESTER. Tenn. Services for Jesse Sissom, 87, a retired farmer of the Shady Grove community, will be at 2 p.m. today at Manchester Funeral Home. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery.
Sissom died Sunday in Harton Memorial Hospital, Tullahoma. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Gladys White Sissom; two daughters, Mrs. Alva Nunley, Shady Grove, and Mrs. Ralph Neal, Inverness, Fla.;
three sons, Lelon, Inverness, Fla., Willard, Holder, Fla., and John Sissom, Kokomo, Ind.; a sister, Mrs. Ora Schmidt, Cincinnati, Ohio; 22 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Services for Jesse Sissom, 87, Shady Grove, Tenn., a former resident of Clermont and Indianapolis were held Tuesday at Manchester, Tenn., with burial at Shady Grove.
Mr. Sissom died Sunday in a Tullahoma (Tenn.) hospital. Born at Bergan, Cannon County, Tenn., he was an Indianapolis resident from 1944 to 1974. He was a retired inspector at Richardson Rubber Company
where he worked about 11 years. He was a former member of Clermont Christian Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Gladys W. [White] Sissom; three sons, Willard L. Sissom of Holder, Fla., Lelon F. Sissom of
Inverness, Fla. and John D. Sissom of Kokomo, and two daughters, Mrs. Rosa Nunley of Shady Grove and Mrs. Laura Neal of Inverness.
NOTE:
The following from John D. Sissom, Kokomo, Indiana: Jesse Spain Sissom, the eighth child of Thomas S. Sissom and Sarah Ann Carrick was born Monday, July 16, 1888, in Bergan, Cannon County, Tennessee, married Gladys Helen White, on December 24, 1916, in Coffee County, Tennessee. The marriage ceremony was performed by Elder George W. Gilbert, and was recorded in the Coffee County Court Marriage record book number 3, page 102. Bergan is no longer in existence, but was near Hollow Springs, the area where most of the family grew up. The older residents of Cannon County call Carson Fork by the name of Bergan today. John D.
